Do something awesome on your mobile device. Share food, literally.
Feedie is an app by The Lunchbox Fund that transforms the passion for sharing food photos that social platforms, like Instagram, have made popular into actually sharing food for those who need it.
How does the app work?
Simply download the app, sign up via Facebook or Twitter, and visit a participating restaurant. When you use Feedie to take a photo of your meal and post it, the restaurant makes a donation to The Lunchbox Fund- a non-profit organization that provides daily meals to schoolchildren in South Africa. Feedie is a mobile app transforming the passion for sharing food photos into sharing actual food with children in need, served by The Lunchbox Fun.
The Facts
In South Africa, over 65% of children live in poverty with not enough to eat while millions around the world continue to take countless photos of their food and share them online. The Lunchbox Fund, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing daily meals to impoverished schoolchildren in South Africa, has made a new goal to capture a tiny fraction of the multi-billion dollar restaurant industry worldwide, and do what no other foodie app is doing: Philanthropy.
The Lunchbox Fun has provided a quarter of a million meals a year, and with the feedie app, the new goal is to increase that number to 10 million. While participating restaurants started just in New York City, they have begun to spread across the United States and even across the pond in London. More restaurants joining means more opportunities to feed those less fortunate. So download the app, find a restaurant near you, take a picture of your food, and give food to someone in need.
