Apollo has developed an app for cable technicians of a major company to use in the field.

The app is designed to help cable technicians quickly assist customers, cutting time down needed to diagnose problems and the amount of billable hours spent. It is released on both iPad and iPhone.

What technicians can do with the app:

  • Receive customer alerts and news stories
  • Get diagnostic information for specific customers from their account information
  • Access an internal knowledge-base
  • Reset customer services, or synchronize service status to diagnose problems

Technically, the app depends on getting access to internal APIs from the cable company. Doing this requires installing a VPN profile on all relevant devices. They then establish a secure SSL connection to a “bridge” server that allows access to all needed internal APIs in one place.
